Figure I'd start a thread in here so I can show people how my 3d learning process is coming along.
Here's the first thing that I did. Granted, it was a tutorial, but I didn't follow it verbatim...
EDIT: I replaced the older version with the texturing issues with this new one.

The grain of the cross pieces on the end of the box is in the wrong direction.
And if it wasn't for that (and I only noticed because you said to look) I would have thought this was a photograph. Fantastic stuff!
The lighting especially is exceptional.
Where did you get the textures? And what software is this?

Looks good. Looks like my first lightwave model too.

Thanks, Mikko! I got this training DVD but used different textures. I found some images on a Google search that I liked, so I used those instead.
The software is Lightwave. It's got a really nice rendering engine. Lightwave has come a long way lately...
Did you go through the whole course yet? I just got done with the one with the crate.Actor / Musician

Looks pretty good to me. Since the grain on the end of the box is mostly in shadow I bet most wouldn't have noticed it. I especially like the realistic and imperfect concrete floor.
Wish I had the time to use that copy of Lightwave I've had for a while now. One more thing to learn. I've even had a copy of the 3D Arsenal which I had high hopes for doing some cool stuff with but just no time!

It looks like the concrete texture is tiled. The wood looks great though.

I meant that the cement texture repeats itself, not that it has tiles.
