I love this movie. One of my favorite movies of all time. Danny Boyle's best movie IMO. Everything is great with this movie. The writing, acting, directing, editing, you name it.

Definitely one of my favorite McGregor roles, along with Moulin Rouge!, Shallow Grave, and (say what you will about the movies themselves) Star Wars Prequels. He did a spot on Alec Guinness.

One of the best monologues in a movie

Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a f**king big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suite on hire purchase in a range of f**king fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the f**k you are on Sunday night. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing f**king junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pissing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, f**ked up brats you spawned to replace yourselves. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons.

Although it's become a little cliche to say Trainspotting was a great film (along with Fight Club, Pulp Fiction, etc. you know, 13 year old 'film buffs'), it's appreciable on levels surpassing "cool". Great actors, very inventive images, even though it's part of a tired genre, it's at the top.

I just saw this on the big screen, on 35mm. What a great theatre experience. It was almost like watching a different movie. I noticed little details I've never noticed out of the dozens of times I've watched it on DVD. It remindedme that it still is one of my all-time favorite films. Not to be cliche by saying that it was like being transported to a different time, but it really was, and not to the time the filmt akes place. I saw it in a little arthouse theatre and I felt like it was 1996 and I was seeing the film on it's first release. The print looked pretty good too, while still having a bit of a lo-fi sound.
