Hi all,
I think I may have uncovered what Avid would describe as a feature, but I call bug!
I am using a Dell M90 laptop, with Media Composer 2.72, the duel adapter and a 16gig memory card. I am working with a 1080/25p project as a workaround to import 720/pn material.
I quickly discovered that importing clips from the P2 direct worked perfectly, however the moment I moved the folder structure off of the cards and onto external storage, I would still see Avid attempt to import the files, but fail stating that there were no clips on the P2 card! I tried moving the file structure to different drives, I tried a different P2 card, I also tried moving the video and audio files into the Mediafiles/MXF/1 folder, all to no avail. After about 4 hours of trying, whilst frantically reading all related posts I could find on both the DVXUser and Avid forums, I was sadly none the wiser and frankly ready to give up. It was then as I removed my P2 card from the slot of the duel adapter, that I decided to give it one last shot... Et Voila!!The import worked first time. I repeated the process to confirm the situation and lo and behold, the problem was solved.
I'm not entirely sure what is causing Avid's failure to recognise the MXF file structure when the card is inserted, but with my setup it is definately occuring. I have not heard of anyone else reporting this problem so far, but I thought a general heads up was probably in order.
Happy shooting
Rich

P2 card stops Avid importing MXFs
