Hi,
I have some hefty file sizes of dv pal footage which exceed the cd capacity.
Is it possible to use dvd's for burning large QT files ?
If so which type of dvd's do I use for a g5 1.8 ?
I see all these different formats with the "-" & "+" etc - I haven't a clue.
Cheers for any info ;)

Carrington--
1) You can use DVD's to record a data disc to store large QuickTime files. Depending on the size of the disk, between 3.5-4.7 GB is your max file that will fit. Remember, this is storage only when it comes to QT--you can't play it on a DVD player. You'll have to convert to MPEG-2 for that.
2) You'll want to pick up DVD-R's ("dvd minus r's") for burning on the G5. DVD+R's will NOT work. The Apple DVD-R's are great, and I would recommend the Maxell DVD-R's as well for your best compatibility changes (with the exception of having them pressed).
These disks will work with both iDVD and DVD Studio Pro.

... and if you're burning just the actual quicktime files on the disc, you don't use idvd or studio pro... just use something like Toast.

or the Finder
just pop the DVD in, give it a name in the window that pops up (like "My Cool Clip") and then drag and drop the quicktime movie onto the disk and then drag the DVD down to the dock where the trashcan usually is to burn it.
