    HDV24P1080 into DVCProHD24P720

So I just bought an HV20 to be my B Camera on a Doc. My A Camera is an HVX200. I was wondering if anyone could direct me to info on importing the HDV24 footage and reencoding it into DVCProHD footage so I can edit it with the HVX Footage. I'm shooting the HVX at 720PN so I also need to shrink the HV20 Footage to 720. I'll be using FCP Studio 2.
Please bear in mind that this will also be the first time I've ever imported HDV footage. I think the HVX spoiled me. Thanks for your help.

I've been doing it with an HDMI cable to a Macpro via a Decklink Studio HD card. So far so good.

Your easiest way is to do it in FCP 6 / FCS 2. Import the HV20 material into a timeline with a DVCProHD sequence (720). You will have to render the HV20 material, which transforms it into DVCProHD. Then edit as usual.
Alternatively you might import your HV20 material into an HDV timeline (1080i), do the editing there and import/copy the HDV sequence as a whole into your DVCPro HD timeline. Rendering after import will be required.

When I import the HDV footage does the new FCP6 do a reverse pull down to drop the extra frames kinda like how the P2 import removes extra frame when you check the button in the Import box? Or is there another way to do it?

Well, I just started the doc this week. The HV20 did a great job locked down getting a 2nd shot for the interviews.
Just like when I had an XL-1/Elura combo, the HV20 looks great but no where near as rich as the HVX200 footage. Though I'd have to argue it's as sharp or better then the HVX200. Everything I do goes through AfterEffects so I believe I can match them up so a regular joe won't notice.
As for handheld, I've been shooting my HVX200 hooked up to a fig rig and it's working great. I usually give the HV20 to my assistant and let her shoot with it. I just tell her to get clean shots with out her moving around to much. I'll see how the footage looks this week and report back.

To be honest, I can't tell you much about drop frames. Living in a PAL country, I never had to deal with such strange things up until now. Have a try at www.creativecow.net. The guys over there are pretty smart in such things. They might be of great help for you.
