OK, I did put "crop factor" in quotation marks, didn't I?

I understand the NEX is an APS-C lens, while the Tokina 17mm is a FF lens - but their focal lengths are supposed to be expressed in FF...

I know it's a dumb question, but I really got confused... It's about the "crop factor" again, so please bear it with me :)

Yes - I was aware the fully open aperture would not be the sharpest setting, as with any lens - but especially ultra-wide like this.

However: if I asked you a simple question - basing on the grab...

And here you are wrong - this particular grab is straight from the FS100 without any filter, and the exposure was found with auto shutter speed. Also, PP was off so no influence of any special detail...

Indoors scenes (without any filters) show exactly the same difference in contrast/sharpness of this lens between fully open at F3.5, and around F8.

Needless to say this is the best it can get at F3.5; F8 is better - but is such a huge difference normal?

My ND is the same as usual (Heliopan), no problems with other lenses...

I bought an FD-mount Tokina 17mm F3.5 off eBay, and am very disappointed with how soft it is when fully opened at F3.5:

- I'm after something I could use on both the FS100 and Letus Elite (35mm adapter)
- as for the FS100, the announced 10-18 NEX (with ISS) looks more attractive

Why do I need 14? Well:

- to go even wider than with my current 24 on Letus
- to have an alternative to the pancake/wide converter combo on the FS100, with (possibly) better IQ and able to accept...

Derran, are you sure the 1018 will accept filters? As with all ultra-wides, its petal hood is fixed permanently so a no-no for large vario-NDs for sure. Perhaps at least a fixed ND can be screwed in...

OK, so indeed - all 3 are interesting lenses; pity the one that I need most (10-18mm) isn't cheap :) Let's see whether its IQ is going to worth $850...

Yeah - naming clips and PPs is simply primitive on the FS100; still hoping it will be improved with a firmware upgrade.
