HPX250 is a 100mbits 10bit 4:2:2 camera. You can make any camera record 1080p 1000fps if you want to. The motion will look very slow but it will lack huge detail. These reel videos look wonderful...

You should define 'better'. The successor to the ex1r is pmw-200. Same price, 50mbits 4:2:2, but i wouldn't say it's 'better than ex1r' just because of that codec improvement. It lacks some features...

You are not dimming the lcd backlight by mistake, right? There are buttons under the handle. There's even a switch that turns off backlight completely.
