As a rule of thumb I always format my cards in camera before any shoot. In 5 years of regular shooting I have never lost a single frame.

All you are really testing is the resolution of the camera sensor. This has nothing to do with the real performance of the lens.

Here's another example of this faulty DxOMark testing procedure, where a cheap Nikon 85mm f/1.8 lens beats the pants off the uber expensive Canon 85mm f/1.2 L lens.
