I wish they'd add a more efficient codec for the 4K to be recorded onto the CF cards so you won't need 1000x UDMA 7 cards just to record 4K video..

They had one up for $8500 USD and I think someone on this forum bought it :P
I was considering getting one but 5 KG body only is kinda too much weight for my type of work sadly :(

Tried playing back a MJPEG 4K clip from the 1D-C on a Ultrabook running on Ivy Bridge ULV dual core 1.9Ghz Core i7 with 4GB 1600Mhz DDR3 RAM and 128GB SSD, playbacks fine here ! :)

I really wished Canon had used a better and more efficient codec than MJPEG, like maybe 4K ProRes or something...

Apparently, this thing will consume very little power compared to other raw cameras, it consumes 8-10 watts according to the tech specs on dslrnewshooter, thats similar to the Canon C300 which also...

And it has a dedicated Nvidia GPU to drive that 4K screen too :o

Here's another thing, if Canon is able to make the 1D-C do 4K 8-bit 4:2:2 at 500Mbits/sec, then why have they not worked on the 1080p and let it do 4:2:2 in MJPEG or XF as well ?

The Sony F5 and DSLRs differ quite a bit in weight, the F5 is more like 2 KG while the 5D MK2 is 810 grams body only, the only DSLRs that come close to the Sony F5 in weight is the Canon 1D series...

What would be nice is if Canon made a camera like this in a DSLR form factor but instead of the Standard EF mount and mirror, use their EF-M mount (from the EOS M) and make it mirrorless and record...
