[FS: General] Aja Io Express HD I/O for Mac or PC
Well the possibilities of this being a cinema camcorder or something related to digital cinematography are higher here.
Choosing Hollywood as the venue here should give some credit to that.
Sorry this sold a while ago. I never updated this.

This is all very true. The rolloff of highlights is fantastic! Especially whereas in the DSLRs, it can just cut off more abruptly.

Awesome thread, and glad to see others who are thinking about this as well.
Though I have yet to fully shoot something with the AF100, I have shot quite a bit with Canon DSLRs. And I have always...

XL/XH HD Camcorders definitely record 4:2:0 onto HDV tapes (or 4:1:1 in DV modes).
XLH1(s) and XHG1(s) have the ability to output 4:2:2 via their HD-SDI ports.
I posted my pics and impression on DVInfo.
Hope this helps inform some of you...

Also should mention the level of control over the image on the XA10/HFG10 will not be anywhere near what you have on the XL/XH/XF lines. So another thing to really consider if trying to move to...
The one concern I would have regarding this is ergonomics. I've played around with the XF100 cams and they are very nice for their size, but I missed a lot of the physical controls a larger camera...

[FS: General] This is still available.
This is still available.
Sounds strange. At 0db and -3db, my XL H1s footage is really clean. Especially anything I record on my Nanoflash from the HD-SDI. You are recording from HD-SDI too, so your footage should be very...

And let's not forget there is still the venerable VIXIA HV40.
It makes a fantastic picture and can be bought for $650 new these days. A great buy!
Also the HFS200 is $675 at B&H, also a great...
I thought about this for a second, but I don't really think there is a camera in the marketplace today that will meet your demands.
You can go the Canon S95 route (CCD, very small and does 720p...

The component outputs aren't subsampled, so it should give you a better picture, assuming you record to a proper codec/format.
But of course, recording from HD-SDI is best. And the Canon XL/Nano...

Actually, just found the report online, the BBC whitepaper on the camera.
Indeed what I am seeing with my XL/Nanoflash combo and extra resolution is correct. Roberts states that the camera...

Yes, I read this too about the 1015 lines. It was from the Alan Roberts BBC test of the XHG1. He measured from the HD-SDI port and not HDV. I believe you can find the report on the BBC site...

Well as someone who uses a Canon XL H1S/Nanoflash combination everyday, I can tell you there are massive benefits in image quality over just HDV from the camera. The resolution is indeed...
