SNR in the shadow area is higher in HD mode due to downsampling, theoretically each time you scale to half of the original resolution, you gain 0.5 stop of shadow DR. so scaling from 8MP to 2MP gets...

Adding new features will not happen, as development specifically for 1D C has discontinued, they only do maintenance (fixing bugs in existing firmware).

To prevent unauthorised access to the firmware file, so no hack.

Typically when shooting greenscreen you use a lower EI, on FS7 I'd say 1000 EI, you get cleaner shadows. With controlled lighting there's little risk of highlight clipping (at 1000 EI you have +5 -9...

No worries, these are all Sony's sophisticated marketing.

First of all, SGamut3 is bigger than REC.2020

F5 and F55/F65 have different CFA, the colour space is definitely different. This was backed up by Alister Chapman, a Sony ICE (Independently Certified Expert)

As far as I know, F5 and possible FS7, have a gamut that is somewhere in between F55/F65 and standard REC.709. Not as pure and wide as F55/F65, but definitely larger than 709. Thus the need for...

Slog3 should work better with RAW recording or future 12bit 444 codec.
Also due to different Colour Filter Array on F5, I doubt SGamut3/SGamut3.Cine on F5 are the same as F55/F65
I know that the 4K World Cup which was shot on F55/F65, used EBU matrix and HG3 for most of the matches.

Were you using Custom Mode or Cine EI with 3200ISO? If you were in Cine EI, changing ISO does not reduce dynamic range, it's always 14 stops. The only thing that changes is the distribution of stops...

Higher EI = more highlight headroom.
At EI2000, DR is approx. +6/-8, at EI4000, it's +7/-7
Same applies for Alexa, EI800 has +7/-7, EI1600 has +8/-6. More headroom requires more bits so higher...
The op mentioned there's no LUT applied.
Alexa LogC for example, if you want white to clip at 109%IRE you have to use EI1600 or above, at EI800 or lower white clips well below 109%.
Since EI mode shifts the middle grey point, you will notice the clipping point go up and down as you increase and decrease from EI2000.
for example at EI500, white clips at about 85% IRE.
Unless you have time and skill for intensive color grading, you will not get good colour (especially skintone) from Sony cameras. Also FS7 is heavier than C300.
yes FS700/FS7/F5/F55 are all Fron-side Illuminated, because the pixel pitch is relatively large and BSI would not bring much benefits.
F65 uses BSI as far as I know, the pixel pitch is 4 microns...
OK so here's what I got from a sony engineer, only F65 sensor is BSI, the others are standard Exmor sensor (FSI)
Thanks for the reponses guys, but Sony's BSI technology (Exmor R sensor) moves the wiring and circuitry layer below the photosensitive layer, there shouldn't be any reduction in fill factor with...
I've been wondering, since global shutter circuitry on F55 sensor reduces the fill factor of the photosites, does this mean the sensor is not back-side illuminated? or the specifically the global...
