I have decided to purchase HV20 and run it through some tests. I will try the camera with the following:
I have a Brevis Adapter, Cinevate Rails, and Nikon Lenses. I will be recording directly to the Blackmagic Intensity card which just updated it's drivers to v1.5 for the camera. (I will record this way as much as possible.) I have a rackmount computer in a rackmount case. This is actually a great way to create a mobile work environment. I will have someone who's sole job is running the computer.
Test on...
1) Cobra Crane with extension kit.
2) Indie Dolly
3) Car Mount
4) Steadicam
(Quick question. I don't have a great tripod. Mine is a Libec TH-M20. It works for personal use and is very light. The weight seems to adequate for this set up. It's also a fluid head on a 65mm bowl. Because of cash flow I can either stick with this tripod and buy a merlin or get a much cheaper steadicam type device and improve the tripod. I also need a follow focus under $1000. I know Cinevate is coming out with one but it may not be ready yet. Hysonfilms is also bringing out a new follow focus. Is my choice the Redrock? I have heard it doesn't last very long. I pull focus all the time. (When I rent.) Any suggestions on the above would be appreciated.)
5) Tripod/Pan/Motion
6) Handheld with cinevate rails.
7) Sony sports pack under water unit. ( I've never shot underwater. Any suggestions? Should I light up the water or get an underwater light? If so which one?)
The main purpose of my test is to create decent motion and avoid this cameras obvious flaws. If you have any request or suggestions please feel free to ask.
I will post once the test is complete.
Thanks,
