24pa footage in premiere - media encoder

I use premiere for my editing. I'm wondering what role adobe media encoder plays with my footage. I'm shooting 24p advanced on mini dv and it turns out slightly choppy. I'm editing in the 24p mode. Should I be selecting some sort of preset in the media encoder?

Also, in encore dvd, what transcoding settings should I select?
