Does anyone have any recipes for fake blood that won't stain floors/walls?

Also, what about safe squibs? I remember seeing a DIY pesticide squib somewhere before but forgot the link to it. Any other suggestions for DIY safe squibs?

Thanks.

...haha, i don't know about blood that wont stain, anything with red dye is bad news...

i really would suggest not making your own squibs if they are going to be used on a person...while the exsplosive may be very small, even if the person is wearing a metal chest guard, the explositons split second impact can studder the heart's pace,

a more safe way is with egg shells annd fake blood.

...or just get an insured pro.

I'm pretty sure that's the link your referring to.
Yeah blood that doesn't stain is kind of an issue. I value practical effects much more than any cg work, but if it's absolutely impossible to mess up any walls maybe you should consider doing it in post?

I don't know if it stains, i've never been there afterwards but i use syrup, food coloring and water... i tin syrup, 1 bottle yellow food coloring 2 bottles red 2 DROPS blue and fill up to about 2 litres with boiling water to help it all mix. looks good flying out of mouths and that kinda stuff...

real easy... clear karo syrup/red food coloring/a tiny bit of chocolate syrup... good enough to eat! :)

For a quart of corn syrup I put in an oz of red dye, 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, 2 cups or so of boiling water, and a couple of drops of yellow dye. If it isn't going into any mouths, you can put some soap in it to help ensure it won't stain. This blood recipe has never stained anything I've put it on.

from what I've read, I'll be testing it out soon, if you use the powder red food coloring, you have a better chance of washing it, than the liquid red.

1) Take condom.
2) Fill with fake blood.
3) Get a washer, and tie a string around it.
4) Superfglue washer to the center of the condom.
5) Pull the string, condom ruptures and sprays blood. Works well when you can't come up with anything better.

don't make blood, buy blood pigment powder (you just mix it with corn syrup), it's like 20 bucks and makes 8 litres and does not stain, i washed it out of a beige shirt and off a white floor, white stoves and white walls.

Has anybody ever compared their fake blood with Ben Nye fake blood? I've worked on shoots that used home brew and some that used Nye... and so far there's been no comparison. I don't want to discourage the home solution, but I've been looking for a believable replacement to Nye for a long time.

Ever thought of doing stuff in After Effects? Check out www.videocopilot.net (http://www.videocopilot.net) They have some cool tutorials, and you can buy pre-matted blood spurts and explosions on a DVD they sell called Action Movie Essentials. Hey! No clean up, and you learn some valuable compositing skills in the process.
