I was wondering if there is anyone out there that knows how to create a "Tracer or blur Effect" with the HVX 200. I'm looking for something that resembles a long shutter still. look.
greatly appreciated

Use the "frame rate hack" to put the camera in 2fps, then use the syncro scan shutter set at 350.0 degrees. That'll give you 1/2-second exposures.

or do it in post!
going to 2fps will speed up the image alot though. After effects has alot of nice things you can do. Slowing the shutter will definitely help as well.
Are you looking for the cheesy consumer camcorder blur effect?

Thanks alot Barry, what the word on the street these days with damaging the camera? Still risky. Are you afraid of breaking your camera?

I've encountered a few more complications since upgrading the firmware; basically NTSC users should stay away from trying 25p but other than that it seems to work fine.

Hey Barry shot a music video with the frame rate hack yesterday with 3 HVXs and it was dope. The cameras worked great and I really appreciate the tip

Glad it was useful! Show us the cut when it's ready, we'd love to see some FRH HVX footage!

Hello Barry and all
Went out last weekend and had a ball with FRH's. Unbelievable! With the shutter set @ -350, I was able to practically see in the dark with this little camera! I could see stars, no kidding, I could actually see stars if I tripodded it.
Ahhhhh, it reminded me of what my Sony D30 looked like after a million hours of use with the lens cap on. Nice Bright, twinkly little stars in the viewfinder. But this time they werent burning pixels. They were the real thing.
Hats off to all that have written about FRH. In the old days, you would have been ham radio geeks.

(P.S. The Sony D-30's are the last of the big DXC model you could actually have the pixels re-mapped on. Sony pulled the plug on this option with the D35 and on up, that is why many preffer them today over the 35's and 50's)
