Sports Project

I am editing a sports video. Like having hillights and making it look sweet. The sport is basketball. Any one have any suggestions on what i could do to make it look kool?

I have been doing football highlights for a team 4 years now. One cool think you can do is take a shot for instance speed the ball up 200 percent for a second, then slow it to 50 % as it goes in the basket. For a hit in football it makes it look like a harder hit. I edit the bigger highlights in to match the punchy part of the music, then fill in the rest with lesser highlights. Try to make it flow just like a movie would, an intro... highlights in the middle, then maybe something funny to end it. Otherwise it makes people feel like something is missing. Have fun.

Use sum kool transitions and FX. Buy some plug-ins if you need some more kool stuff. Make the colors all crazy and stuff. The peoples will think you have mad skillz b'cuz of the crazy movie you made. The best thing to do when you have creative block is to walk away from the computer. Do something else to clear your mind: ride a bike, climb a mountain, anything that doesn't involve sitting in front of the computer. Sometimes from working too hard at it our brains can get stuck in a loop where the ideas don't flow. When this happens it means it's time for a break. When you come back to the project inspiration might strike and you'll have a killer concept to build on.

I agree with milksac in his later post, and in the same manner Steve suggests.

Depending on you technical skill, get away from the project do do research. By that, watch some TV. Turn to a sports station, get out a pen and paper, and watch the commercials and whatnot. Try not to watch them from a technical aspect, but rather a creative one. Write down things that appeal to you, and why. Don't worry yet how to accomplish them, just get a list going. Look not only for eye candy, but for similar trends and styles. Write it all down.

Then take your project, and begin imagining how you can incorporate items on your list into your project.
