I'm looking to make a uniform (shirt + hat) with my own logo on it... any suggestions how I should go about doing this? Thanks.

If you have your artwork as EPS files or even print-sized JPEGs, most screen printers or embroiderers should be able to digitize and build threads from those.

For our shirts, we went with a local screener who is also a dealer for most of the bigger brands (e.g., Hanes, Anvil, New Era) and chose caps and shirts. The caps got embroidery, the shirts a single color screen.

We buy 24 shirts each time across several different sizes and roughly the same number of caps. They'll amortize the one-time digitizing and thread set-up costs over the run of products or charge you a flat rate - both are usually equal in the end.

There's also CafePress.com (http://www.cafepress.com), which allows you to also create all sorts of other customized items.

Don't do cafepress, there prices are too high, and they basically use a high-end iron on transfer. they look like crap.

as for the design for screenprinting, make sure its 300dpi, the size of the of the design must be the same size as you wanted printed on the shirt. make sure the type is converted to rastersized image (photoshop) or outlines (illustrator)

If you need to get shirts screen printed, check out www.detroitscreenstudios.com I used to own the company, and they do really good work. If you go with them, or when they give you the quote, tell them you were reffered by Matt Conrad, you could get a hook up on the prices. either way, they have really good prices, and no setup fees, unless you get under 20 tees I believe.
