I'm pretty picky about viewfinders and am considering ordering the AJ-VF20WB for the 500 - since I don't even have a camera yet, but want to have the full package in hand when it does arrive at the end of June, I just wanted to be sure that this finder will work well with the 500 handheld (balance, weight, etc) and that it is a significant improvement over the stock finder.. Jan, anyone?

Hello Mac,

The VF20WB has a all metal contruction and 16:9 CRT. I think that those are the major differences. The stock VF (VF11) is plastic and the CRT is 4:3.

Let me know if there is anything else that I can do to help.

I'm curious about added weight if any?

And where does all the info that's in the letterbox of the stock viewfinder end up? Is it moved around, or is it cut off like when you zoom a 4x3 image on a 16x9 TV?

Mac,

I would imagine that the weight is insignificant and if anything, the added mass in the VF will make things feel a bit better. I will have to check to see if the OSD info moves to the letterbox bars like it does on the HVX200. I know that the standard ENG cameras have the OSD over the video.
