I mounted a Chinese LCD TV (7") on my DVX. It is widescreen and I can shoot in "squeze" mode and can see the proper frame, which used to be a problem for me on Dvx's original monitor. And it is bigger, but not sharp as Dvx's.

can you give us the plans for this ? For connection of the LCD to the hot shoe, I'm sure someone will be interested in replicating it.. Cheers!

I had a mount for a sony microphone, I used it, so there are not any plans, maybe there would be if I did not have that. Then I made an L out of steel and connected it to the mount. Sorry that's all. But I think anyone would find a way if they buy a monitor. It is about $150. And works with 10 rechargable batteries and can recharge itself.

Was there a thread on the hot shoe adapter that you used ? Most of the ones I see have no way to screw something on them..

Oh! This was the mic holder, and you took off the mic suspension. Then you screwed this into the thread that held the mic suspension. Is that correct ?

You should be able to use any hot show adapter that ends in a 1/4" thread. Just stick the l-bracket on and add a washer and nut. That's how I'm mounting my ghetto LED ringlight.

Or you can get this (shoe mount included, but no battery, though):

I'm planning to get this for framming on my XH-A1. I know it's not HD...but the resolution seems ok for the money.

Call me party-spoiler (if there's such a word), but I wouldn't count too much on the speced resolution.
Except on serious (and expensive) designs, resolution specs do not tell a reliable truth.
Hopefully I am completely wrong and it's a great screen.
For framing it may be fine though. It comes with a shoe mount, which is a very good thing.
let us know how it looks...

This one seems to be similar to the one I use. I can tell you that mine is useless for sharp focusing, image quality is not so good, I may have to use the DVX's monitor for focusing sometimes or zoom in as much as I can to have a sharp focus and then zoom out again. But again if you use the squeeze mode and you're mad about framing like me, you'll need one of these.

hahaha! That's my old boss from back in michigan that is selling these pieces of crap. I have one, okay for framing, horrible for focus pulling.

Holy crap, i just did the same thing... except i got a sansui monitor, comes with a sweet little ball joint thingy for dash board mounting, just unscrewed the plate and cut some slots in the side of the mount with a angle grinder and i sits perfectly in the hot shoe... for battery power i use a 3 cell LiPo battery from my model plane, it lasts about 2 hours , but weighs little more than 1 AA cell and can easily velcro onto the back of the monitor. also is widescreen... what a treat. i'll find some pics later.
