This is a video I made for my senior capstone project in High School. I tried a lot of new things and new types of editing that I haven't ever thought of before. I think people will either like it a lot or hate it completly, but let me know any suggestions you have. I only spent 3 full, hard working days on the second part, but the first part was at a more leisurely pace. Comments are greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the awful quality, but I don't have anywhere else to host this.

first off Great Job. I really did like it. especially the begining. the only thing is I thought that the text was too distracting in the sencond half. It was like it was more important to try to read the text then see the action you filmed.

I'm definitely digging the second part much better (you almost lost me at the first part.. not enough action..) The effects for the pool table were tight! The other text dancing around the rider was bit much, but you were probably just having fun with mattes, tracking, etc..

Had some fun there doin some roto? I agree with the pool table shots....Those were sick.....Yeah a little much on the text around the riders but it definitely had an intense feel to it...Just rotoscoped right?

Oh DCERVENKA, do you shoot or work for DPC films? They do some good quality work....Thinkin about pickin up a copy of the chick flick....Would you agree? Peace!

tweir...

I really liked the editing in the first half when you introduced everyone. Can you tell me what program or effect you used where the image was being sliced? I want to be able to do the same thing for a football introduction I am going to work on in the fall, and I will be using Avid.

I agree with a lot of text in the second half and maybe give the video more speed. I am a skiier myself so I appreciated it and I bet it looks awesome in full quality.

Thanks for all the comments guys! As for the text...i was really just trying to have fun with it and maybe its a good thing it took away from the actual skiing because we aren't very good seeing as we live in naples, florida and don't get much snow here.

The first song is called "i tried" by bone thugs-n-harmony featuring akon... the second song is called "pressure suit" by aqualung.

The whole movie was made in after effects 6.5 standard version, but i used photoshop to make some mattes for the text to make it grungy. ^^^^As for the splices in the first part, i made a composition of moving masks across the x-plane of various sizes, and just changes their x positions in a random fashion. I then went to the main composition.... for each clip there were 5 main layers to make this spliced effect:
1). I took my footage and duplicated it. On the bottom layer, i added a tint to make it black and white, and color corrected it to add contrast.
2). On the duplicated layer above, i added the curves filter to color correct the footage.
3). I then placed the moving mask composition on top of the other layers and set it as the trackmatte for the layer below it.
4). I then added an adjustment layer on top of all the other layers. I added the curves filter and gave the footage a blue tint, as well as the transform filter so i could scale up the footage.
5). I then added the moving masks composition above the adjustment layer and set it as the trackmatte for the adjustment layer, causing the effects i added in the adjustment layer to only show where the mattes are from the layer above it.

-I added some text with keyframes for the tracking, so its tracking increases over time.

**I made my moving masks composition to be 30 seconds long so i could move it around to different points in time so each shot was different.

I hope this all makes sense to you, but if not just let me know!

Thanks again guys!

Great idea with the pool table and titles. First part of the movie completely lost me, I almost stop watching the hole thing (just can't stand that fist song). The second half did not even seem like it came from the same person, great job.

thanks for the comments again...

Wes-- i can see why you didn't like the first part... it was a bit lengthy and a lot of people hate akon... but on the second part i really did try something completely new for me and i'm glad you liked it... i was pretty much ripping my hair out by the time i was done... i had almost finished the video 3 days before the deadline and i decided i didn't like it and started over...... i basically didn't stop working on it at all during those 3 days unless i had to eat, sleep a little, eat, or workout.... and on the day before it was due i pulled an all nighter and worked until 6 am the day it was due. AHHHHH... glad its over but i'm proud of what i did.

thanks again!
