Hi
Iam new here, and i have some questions regarding the XL2. Iam now a proud owner of a Canon XL2 and i just love it!! How can i get te most out of this cam? Iam seeking the best imagequality! Can i change something to get it better?
Another problem it that my Final Cut (Latest one) have some problems finding the cam and get the film imported. I have tried in iMovie HD, and it worked perfect.
Thanks,
Terje Berg

Welcome and congrats, great cam!
A good start is this:

Also, you might check the Xl2 section of DVinfo.net...
But most stuff related to the DVX can also be adapted for the XL2, so just read around a little here...

Thanks! I really liked that tour! Is it possible to get it on dvd? Are there other films like that, or guides ect?
But, why doesnt i get to import my films in Final Cut?

I never captured directly from the XL2, either used a tapedeck or a small miniDV for that...
But never had problems! Describe your workflow, maybe I can help...

Can anybody suggest or specify what small miniDV camera to use for capture in order to save XL2 ? Normally, the cheapest...

IŽd buy a Canon for playback, just to make sure, there used to be issues with DV handling from different manufacturers (especially Canon...) - but yeah the cheapest with DV in/out will do...
Terje, enjoy the XL2 and post your results here!
Welcome aboard,
I have DVXs & XL2 and digitise all Mini DV tapes from these through a $250 Samsung MiniDV camcorder and it's never missed a beat. Though I wouldn't use the Samsung to actually tape anything - it simply has the worst image I've seen in any miniDV camcorder; why my old Sharp SVHS camcorder made nicer footage.

I use FCP 4.5 to capture from the XL2 and it works flawlessly. The problem I have had is getting a really good hi-res export from Final Cut.. I finally figured out that I needed to use the custom export and adjust the settings that way.

B&h Sells A Dvd Called The Ultimate Guide To The Xl2 For Around $39, I Hear Its Good And Im Going To Get It Because I Have The Same Problem As You. Had My Xl2 For A Little Over A Month And Am Still Trying To Get It Dialed In, My Gl2 Was More User Friendly

I Use My Canon Zr600 ($300+) And It Works Great, In Fact For A Point And Shoot Camera Its Outstanding. I Very Seldom Use My Gl2 Or Xl2 As A Deck.
