Hey, not sure if anyone would be interested, but would any of you have interest in helping with an FX shot for a low-budget student crime-comedy short? I haven't shot the scene yet, but if someone would like to be involved (I can send you my previous work and the script beforehand) in making sure we film it correctly, send you the video files, and then get them back, that'd be awesome. Naturally with a credit and a free mailed copy of the film but we lack the funds to actually pay anyone.

The scene involves 3 different shots (1 stationary, 2 handheld) of a car crashed into a building. The crash itself was off-camera, but there's dialog inside the car as well as an air bag blowing up into person's face (I'm intending to mask the shot and but the airbag out-of-focus so it won't have to be perfect).

What part of that would you need VFX for? Sounds like you could film the whole thing with practical elements. Maybe a little dust or some particle generation for added effect when the airbag deploys, but even that could be shot with baby powder or something of the like. And, you would need it to stick to your actors, something a visual element wouldn't do.

Two shots. From the inside, looking like the car drove right through the wall and there was a camera 5 feet beyond the wall, so the front of the car and the indoor wall are filmed, but the breaking pattern isn't. And on the outside, a shot of a building, and to composite are car into it along with the breaking pattern.

By breaking pattern, I simply mean how the wall broke when the car came into it. All I could really do is make it appear as though the camera punched a perfectly shaped hole into the wall.
