from what i understood the dvx102 is for new zealand and Asia but is there further any difference? I am living in the Netherlands and when i called the Panasonic dealer here he said he has no idea what the dvx102 is. The reason i'm asking is that i guy i know offered me to buy his dvx102AE.
waiting for an answer

AFAIK, the "A" version should be the same, with only the model number being different to mark the territory it came from. I think there is a difference in the 102B related to some certification it had to meet in NZ/Aus but not in Europe, but in either case the functionality, image etc should all be identical.

but let's say i purchase the dvx102 in europe, do i get service from panasonic or is it considered grey import that they will not repair if something goes wrong

The 102a should be quite old, I don't think that there is any warranty left of it. You can still get a new dvx102b and also get a mack warranty to cover the repairs in Europe. It is still a Panasonic.

sorry for the question but i am new in this - what is a mack warranty and how much does it cost? By the way, i see you are from Germany, how much would you estimate the cost of a second hand dvx100a would be here in europe? it is god dam difficult to find one.

I found a used one from a rental house in Germany that went for 1400euros. You can get them around 1400 to 1800 euros. It depends on the hours & extras that come with it.

Mack warranty is a warranty that one can buy to cover the camera . It must be bought only within 30days of the New camera. It can be transfer for a fee. It covers the repairs done only with Authorised service centers.
