its not editing software, its a set of plugins for editing software (i.e. final cut) to my understanding it used for color correcting, specifically to match that "film look"

Render times out the wazoo, and the overused presets by lazy editors.

If I hadn't gotten it with my DVX, I would not have bought it. It is a nice starting place, but I end up finding something I like in MB, and then using a 3-way color corrector and color curves, I normally find a much better look that takes a fraction of the time to render.

I'll second that on the render times out the wazoo. That is one of the main reasons I quit using it. I'm really finding less use for it the more I learn about color correction in the Editor itself.

yes i agree with b.hahn....... a lot of people use the bullet for the look suite (i call it the bullet so when i refer to it, people don't think of it as a small egg shaped blender), but one of it's big selling points is to turn their 60i footage into 24p. though you then have to resync your audio and the rendering times...... well..... you could probably shoot another feature!!! i ended up selling my xl1 and buying a dvx because of those rendering times!!

i'm a beginner and i love it. unfortunately, it does take forever to render and you can't preview in real time without a powerful computer. so if you're a novice and want a quick fix, go for it. if you already have a solid understanding of color correction, then save your money and use your editing software to do it.
