You can't buy a dvx100a new, so that would be used.

I'm about to pick one up for 2k.

what do you guys think about buying from an ebay power seller for around $2100-2200 (not a private seller but a company who mass sells them)

Personally, I try to avoid that kind of ebay seller. However, I have no rational reason for doing so. I just feel more comfortable with individuals, or with companies that have a more permanent feel to them.

Ive seen them go for as little as 1300, but you must realize that your camera may already have 500 or more operation hours already. At 100 its time to replace heads and the whole 9 yards. Sooooo dont expect anything good for under 1500. ( I know it sucks) Just hope and pray that if you do find one for less that its in good working conditions internally.

I don't know what happened, but all of a sudden my DVX100A monitor stopped working. Its blacked out. I was looking and comparing it to my dvx100b's monitor, and saw that the configuration was much different. I can see wiring between the lcd to the camera. I'm guessing that it was some how frayed. On my B you can't see any wiring exposed. I am really pissed about it. It works fine other than that though. I'm getting ready to send it off for repair through my Mack Warrantee. It just sucks though. I will probly be selling it very soon and getting a new B.

I agree... I believe, with a little patience, you can find one on ebay from a personal seller, with low seller numbers but 100% rateing. I'd feel more comfortable finding one that way, having only one owner, with him claiming its well taken care of, and in A-1 condition. Oh, and low hours <200hrs. I've seen plenty of these out there

The rational reason is the possible head-ache you can have dealing with these people. Most of them will make you call to "confirm" your order and then they'll do their best to pressure you into upgrading or charge you a ridiculous amount for shipping/insurance. When I first got my FX1 from an ebay power seller I was quoted $175 for shipping insurance and two salesmen kept me on the phone for over half an hour trying to convince me to upgrade to the "Made in Japan" version. And this company was based in Florida, not Brooklyn. In my opinion these people are just a step up from the Brooklyn bait and switch outfit in that they actually will let you have the camera at a lower price if you're adamant about not upgrading. But it's easier just to get it used or new from a reputable company.

Huh? That is totally not true. 100 hours on the DVX is nothing. I have a DVX100a with 490 hrs which is running great.

I agree, get the 100B only, and on eBay used, with your savings going to audio and lighting. Dont waste time on the inferior 100 or 100A models, and dont buy new, waste of cash.

Just so you know, it takes a lot of time to put 500 hours on the heads, so don't feel bad about picking one up with that many if you can get it for cheap.

And a DVX100A is -not- a waste of money. The jump from 100 to 100A was big, but the 100A to 100B isn't nearly as critical.

The 100B has many significant improvements. Barry Green summarizes them well HERE (http://www.dvxuser.com/articles/100b/).
