Ok, so i don't know After Effects well at all, so I need some pointers. I edit using premiere Pro 2.0 and need to brighten some footage beyond what Premiere is capable of, so I need to use AE.

My shots need to be brightened just a bit...they are already pretty grainy from the high gain, but I need just a little more.

Can anyone walk me thru a simple process in AE to bring up the shadows but keeping the brighter areas as they are? If so, I'd appreciate it!

Thanks!
Andrew

use levels or color curves. Using the levels is pretty easy, just apply the effect (probably under adjust or color correction) and then slide the black handle under the histogram to the right to increase the blacks brightness. Curves are just as easy, apply the effect and drag the bottom part of the line left.

Pretty easy but hard to explain so I included a special picture for you

btw: same process in premiere
