I buy tape at Edgewise in Hollywood (best price I've found so far).
Recently the sales guy said Panasonic MQ tapes were discontinued.
I attended a DVX Bootcamp (highly recommended!!!!) and the gurus said ONLY USE Panasonic MQs! Something about dry lube versus wet lube on the spools.
So what tapes do I use now??

Are PQ's and MQ's the same as far as being dry lube?

Panny = DRY
Sony = WET

I was under the impression that any tape was fine, as long as you stuck with the same one all the time. I use TDKs from Costco.

Does the entire panasonic tape series use dry? Like the master(white tapes) and the cheap panny tapes from frys or best buy?

what about those PANASONIC DVC Professional Ideal for 3 CCD? they're 80 min long in sp mode.

seem likes at least the HVX manual reccomends against using 80 min tapes - thinner stock.

yes, all panny tapes are dry lube.

from what ive heard, sony premiums actually can wear down the heads faster than other tapes do.
