I just noticed that Panasonic released a new version of P2 Viewer for the PC, which adds Vista support:

https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/support/cs/csregistp2m/ep2main/

Please note that when you install this, all your existing virtual P2 cards are lost.

Haven't installed it yet, but for clarification, you mean that the list of virtual cards is lost, yes? The footage on the hard drive is, of course, untouched and you can always just re-register them as virtual cards in the new P2 Viewer...

Correct, the footage will still be there, but any virtual P2 cards that you defined will be gone and must be recreated.

What are the features / advantages of the new P2 Viewer?

The only thing mentioned by Panasonic is support for Vista, there are no relase notes.

What version number is it?

I can not access thru' your link because of the Password requirement.

My current version is 3.01.1.4 and from the PAnasonic site it seems to be the latest.

The new version 3.1.2.0.

There is no password required, I just clicked on the link a minute ago. What browser to do use? I have fairly strict security and cookie settings, and had no issues.

I can not access thru' your link because of the Password requirement.I just figured out the problem -- blame Panasonic's webmaster. The whole site needs some serious help. :(

They have placed another link labeled "Download" at the very bottom of the page that appears to be intended for the distribution of content that isn't available to the general public, and which therefore requires a login and password.

If you click on the "Download" link immediately below "P2 Viewer", you will be taken to the correct place. Or, you can click HERE (https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/support/cs/csregistp2m/ep2main/p2v_li_e.htm).

Thanx THoff. That worked.

I find the Panasonic sites to be a bit clunky and confusing at the best of times.

The vague naming of drivers without easy clarification or ID has always been a pain in the butt to me.

Speaking of P2 Viewer...

I was using it with a Virtual P2 card about two weeks ago, when I just happened to notice the 'change clip thumbnail' button, but it was grayed out. If I could figure out how to use that, that'd be immensely helpful. So I looked all over the panasonic site, and the internet, and got nothing... then I thought, "oh wait! Maybe you have to have it reading an actual P2 card, and you have to change it on there, before you offload!"

But nope, that didn't work either.

My question is, how does one use the 'change clip thumbnail' button?

It is really poor UI design, but here is how it works:

Instead of single-clicking on the clip in either the Primary or Secondary bin, you must double-click on the clip. All of the playback controls work with both single and double-clicks, but updating the thumbnail only works if you double-clicked on the clip.

Really? It's all so obvious now...

Haha... thanks a bunch.
