so let me simplify my previous question...I am going to use the frame rate hack to shoot 25 fps on the NTSC version of the HVX.....can I just lay this into a PAL sequence in FCP and viola!?

You'll need to look at the specs for NTSC and PAL side by side to get a full answer to your question. The short answer is no.

The NTSC version of the camera can only shoot 25fps in 720p mode, and even then it isn't really 25fps - it's 24.975 or some fraction like that - meaning your audio will have some sync problems if placed in a 25fps timeline. Even so, you are still at different resolutions - HD to SD PAL, which will require considerable render time in FCP 5.1. (FCP6 is a bit unknown currently.)

You'd be better off shooting 24p and then converting to 25p when you are done.
