Hello, I just joined the Forum because my DVX100A is not recording and shows no image in the viewfinder (or viewing screen) and I am trying to get a better understanding of what is wrong. I am currently in Hong Kong so my repair and advice options are a little limited (my warranty is in the US and I am currently making a doc here), so if anyone has seen a problem like this I would appreciate hearing more.
The problem is that the camera shows no image in the viewfinder or screen, does not record, but works in VCR mode. The viewfinder shows either a white screen, or at times a black, red or green one, which I guess is its attempt to white balance. It does not seem to be a condensation problem, I've reset the camera and have cleaned the heads.
A Panasonic salesman here thinks the CCD is broken. Anyone ever have experience with this? Is it expensive to repair? Covered by warranty? Thanks for the help, Alice
