Hello everybody...

So, our Final Cut Studio 2 came in and I installed it on my MacBook Pro Core2Duo 2.33ghz 3GB ram... Seems to work fine until I try importing p2 in the new "Log and Transfer" window... I can see and playback all of my clips on the p2 card, but when I click add clip to queue, Final Cut 6 crashes.. every time.. Just wondering if this is happeneing to anyone else or if anyone has had successful p2 imports using Final Cut Pro 6... Thanks

I have had no problems whatsoever.

Have you installed the Mac Intel version of the P2 drivers (on the Panasonic site)?

Are you running anything unusual on your MBPro?

I would trash FCP 6 prefs and repair permissions and see if you still crash. In fact, I have found FCP 6 rock solid so far-- about the most stable dot-zero release I've seen.

This happened to me recently with 5.1.4. I wonder if you tried to do more than one folder/card and it crashed before this started regularly. I tried everything when it happened to me in the above instance. finally I had someone else unwrap the files and transfer them onto my system and it works fine.

what is strange is I made a disk image after it kept crashing when i was reading right off the card... so i made a disk image of the p2 card in disk utility and final cut is still crashing on import using the disk image... i tried trashing the prefs and am about to try a reinstall.... wish me luck..

It is takes a little longer, but I always on these huge updates completely reinstall the OS and updates and then a fresh new install of FCS2.

Seems to really solve issues. Not an archive and install but a clean install after backing up to external drive.

I second that. However I may hold off until Leopard comes out. Got FCP 6 this week but haven't installed yet. Waiting till I get a break between projects.

I also keep a fresh drive with a newly installed and unused latest OS system on it.

Then I clone that before starting a clean install.

Takes a little time, but worth every minute

I have also been having this crashing problem. I thought at first it was low disk space but it's not. I feel like it might be connected to the duel adapter cause it only seems to happen when I offload with it.

When it was happening, I made sure to isolate the issue and it definately was not the duel adapter... The p2 card was being recognized just fine.. and I even made a disk image of the p2 card and tried to import that into Final Cut and it was still crashing.. So I knew the problem was with final cut... I just reinstalled it and it works great with the adapter or p2 disk images....
