I'm using an anaphormic lens on a DVX - 100 with the intent to print to film in the future. I'm having problems importing material in 16x9. It keeps looking like 4:3.

Here's what I've set. I don't know if different custom sets are needed to to render the images as a 16x9 in the timeline.
24fps

SEQUENCE PRESETS: DV NTSC 23.98 Anamorphic
Frame Size: 1280 x 720 Pixels
Editing Timebase: 23.98 fps
Field Dominance: None
Pixel Aspect Ratio: NTSC - CCIR 601 / DV
Anamorphic 16:9: On
Video Processing: YUV allowed (8-bit)
White Point: White

Compressor: DV/DVCPRO - NTSC
Millions of Colors (24 bit)
No Data Rate Limit
No Keyframes Set
Quality: 100

Audio Settings:
16-bit 48.000 kHz Stereo

CAPTURE PRESETS: NTSC (2:3:3:2) Anamorphic
Using DV Video for video input
AG-DVX100 using NTSC
23.98 frames per second
DV/DVCPRO - NTSC at Best quality.
24 bits per pixel
1280 by 720 (Anamorphic 16:9)
Using DV Audio for audio input
Input: First 2 channels
Rate: 48.000 kHz
Speaker: off
Volume: 100, Gain: 0

NOTE - I did use HD 720 16x9 preset when editing the presets in the capture and sequence. THIS MAY BE VERY wrong.

I know this is long but any help would be appreciated.

I am having the same issue however my capture presets are not HD, just normal DV ntsc.
I had it figured out once, but forgot how I did it. The settings are simple...it must be something other than sequence and capture settings. Any suggestions on how to get an anamorphic picture on the timeline instead of 4:3? I am also using the anam. lense.

Does it come out in 4:3 when you look at it from the browser of from the sequence?

Just check that there is a checkmark in the anamorphic column in the bin. When using squeeze mode on any video camera, there is a flag signal on the tape that tells log & capture that it is 16x9 - you don't get that with an anamorphic lens.
So, if the anamorphic column doesn't have a checkmark for each clip, just select all of the clips (CMD+A) and then CONTROL-click in the anamorphic column for one of the clips, and select "YES." All of your clips will now be "checkmark" flagged as 16x9.
