There's a used DVX100A that Im considering buying that has about 260 hours on it. The owner has had it for 2 years and supposedly has taken good care of it. He said he only used the pro Panasonic tapes in the camera. Is 260 hours to risky for me to buy this camera?

Any advice to confirm Im buying a good camera? Whats a decent price if its in good shape?

Thanks!

it really depends on your luck. a camera with 10 hours might just crash on you. It also depends on the locations used. (somky, seaside, humid) Generally the heads last for 2000 hours before replace is needed as recommanded by the DVX manual.

260 is not high. Depends on the price, if you ask me...

260 is nothing. it can go into the thousands. there will be quesitons of head cleanings, and proper maintenance, but it can go that long.
