does anyone know how to create good light rays in AE, or a good light rays plugin?

I think there's a way to do it without extra plugins, but Trapcode Shine is generally accepted as the best way to do it.

Not only is there Shine, but Sapphire makes a set of plugins that has that. But, there is also CC Light rays, which is part of the production bundle of AE7, free, and on the disk. Looks pretty much like shine, but you have to tweak it a little to get the shine look. But it's free, and works well, from what I have seen.

Matt, Can you elaborate on that a bit. I don't see the Light Rays option anywhere.
Thanks,
Tim.

the CC Radial Fast Blur (you have to load the disk and select 3rd party software a d install Cyclone Effects) is a really good way to get light rays happening, but it important to have a layer specifilly for the object as doesnt allow you to spec a lighter or darker it does it to all layers anyway have fun its a great effect

It is, as far as I know, part of the Pro bundle. It's on the installation disk, just like Keylight and Color Finesse. It doesn't install with the program, you have to install it directly from the disk
Look up CC Lightrays on google. You'll find info for it.
EDIT: And it is not just for 7, it also came with 6.5.
Matt's correct, it installs as part of the "Cycore Effects" bundle that comes with AE Pro.
