View Full Version : DVX Goes Clunk?

Hey Everyone -
Just got a used 100B with only 1 hour, and everything seems to work perfectly. My only concern is that when I move it forward and back, something is moving inside the camera. It sort of sounds like something is loose inside. Since I am new to cameras in general I want to make sure my concern is valid before I contact the retailer. Is this supposed to happen, or is something loose in the camera that needs to be secured? Like I said, everything seems to work fine. Thanks for any help.

I always wondered what was that noise, now I know!
When I got mine, it didnt clunk at all. Couldnt believe it. I could shake it, turn it upside down--nothing. After rapping it on the work bench several times, it now clunks all the time. What a relief.

The clunk goes away when you soak it in water for 6 hours.

hahahaha......Loved reading these....
I only did the bench test because I didnt know about the water treatment ( i am relatively new to this site).
On the (+) side, it took me less than 6 hours and I now have two different kinds of clunks!.

Ok, this is embarrassing.
I am reading through this post, because yes, i to experienced the "clunk"
I come across this post made by Isaac.
It's a DVXuser rite of passage for new camera owners to pull out their brand new factory smelling DVX/HVX, clutch it in their trembling hands, and then to have their hearts drop as a rattling sound emanates from their new camera’s bowels. Everyone experiences this moment. You think something’s wrong, that you got a lemon, and you start to think about the 6,000 dollar investment you made and whether you’re certifiable.
You do a google search, and you stumble through the DVXuser saloon doors, nervous and looking for affirmation to send back this faulty beast. You post a question, “what’s that clunk noise?” and for the next six hours you experience a roller coaster ride of emotions. Is it the gyro stabilizer, a good luck penny, or damage from transit?
It’s a fun initiation, has been taken too far at times, but its time is coming to an end. Unfortunately people are taking the joke seriously, and they're actually calling Panasonic and asking about the flux capacitor and the gyrotonic stabilizing rods.
Minus the Flux Capacitor and the Gyrotonic comment....everything else match me too a "T"
