I seem to be the only one who feels strongly about the poor zoom control on the HVX200. Perhaps it is the way I shoot that it is important to have a very smooth start and stop. Even my $400 consumer camcorder has a nice smooth start and stop!

Have any of you tried some of the available zoom/focus/iris controls such as the varizoom products, and did they improve the zoom control function of the HVX200, or did it just replicate the camera zoom control design?

I'd be interested in any thoughts you have on this subject.

Thanks,

David

I too was a bit annoyed by that. But it was an easy fix: turn off the servo-controlled zoom, and use the manual zoom ring.

I dont think you'll like the external controls any better - they rely on the same 3 zoom speeds the hvx is capable of. for slow creeping zooms I just go manual - read from someone on here about tying a string to the little knob and pulling the string to get nice smooth zooms, but I havent tried it yet. Sounds promising though and not like string cost too much to try it.
