I have a corrupt P2 clip (it's the only clip on a 4gig volume). I actually know how it got corrupted, but I don't know how to fix it...

As I was copying files from the card to my laptop, the computer went to sleep (it ran out of juice because the power adaptor wasn't plugged in). I let the card finish transferring and then checked it w/ P2 Log Pro. It seemed to play fine. Unfortunately I didn't scan the footage all the way to the end. The last minute of footage (when the computer went to sleep) is corrupt. The audio plays fine all the way through because, I'm assuming, it had already copied the complete audio file. The video, however, freezes when it gets to that point as the audio continues. Basically it seems that the video file is incomplete...

Is there any way to change the In/Out points of this clip to avoid the corrupt part? I have FCP 5.04.

Thanks much,
Adam Larsen

1. Always write-protect your card if offloading them on a Mac. Until the Mac's problem with P2 cards has been solved, this appears to be the only way to safeguard the card's contents.
2. Try to repair the clip in the camera. I would try to do this with the latest HVX200 firmware, which has a new repair option called "REPAIR CLIP(LOOP)".
3. FCP 5.1.4 allows you set set In/Out points when ingesting P2 cards.

Thanks! I guess I'll have to upgrade...

how do you write protect the p2 card? I've had a couple of bad files, to, in one case, i dropped the files to my powerbook, then later that night when usinjg firewire to transfer the p2 files, one of the files on the 3rd card wouldnt copy over, and then I found I couldn't open any of those files in fcp, I downloaded a tester version of the ps viewing program that lets you fix them as well, it said it fixed it, but all that was left was static.

I havent a clue whats going on.

the powerbook was in the field running on its batt, but it had charge, and never went to sleep while I was droping form the p2 card, its a 4gig card btw.

There is a small orange write protect switch on the back of the card where the serial number is etched.
