hi everyone.
just had some weird problem with my p2 viewer software - it crashed every time i tried to load a clip.
after an exhausting search, i found a solution to that problem. it's quite strange, but this one was never mentioned here at dvxuser.com or elsewhere. therefore i decided to post it, to help other users avoiding that headaches i just had.
in my case, the crash was triggered by some kind of codec conflict. it seems, that some of these special .ax files can compromise the panasonic p2 viewer programm - as well as the windows movie maker. all you have to do is to search and rename them file for file while checking if the progromm starts working.
all known problem .ax codecs are named on the following page, as well as a more detailled instuction to fix the problem.
http://www.papajohn.org/
go to section "problem solving" --> "crashes and hangs"
actually it's a windows movie maker help, but that doesn't mind, it worked out fine for me. my crash was triggered by the SubTitDS.ax file, i just renamed it to SubTitDS.ax_ and everything was fine.
hope that thread will help you, good luck,
