So I'm somewhat new to my HVX. I'm shooting a short film (trailer at www.terrorfeed.com (http://www.terrorfeed.com) - main page, column on left, titled "Redemption of the Undead") and due to limited funds, I can only shoot on DV tapes for right now. I know I'm missing out on a lot of great features and options by not shooting with the p2 cards, but I need to know what's available to me in terms of frame rates for DV recording. Can someone help? I'd love to be able to shoot 60p, or even 60i, for some slo-mo stuff I need, but that raises another question: If I shoot 80% of the film in 24pa, and my only option for slo-mo is 60i, is there going to be a signifigant difference in footage? Can I just de-interlace the 60i footage to match my 24pa? Someone help!

You cannot use variable framerates in anything but 720P, so it isn't available when recording to the built-in tape mechanism.

Mixing framerates and field types in your editor can be alot of work or even impossible, depending on what you use.

Shooting in 60i for slow motion should blend fairly well. You'll lose about half of your vertical resolution.

If you have a well thought out workflow and you are able to work in AE for your field separation / blending you shouldn't have too much trouble.

If you haven't already, I'd suggest purchasing Stu Maschwitz's book The DV Rebel's Guide.

He covers this technique and many other helpful little tricks.
