Hello,
I am trying to mount my camera via firewire to the Mac with no luck. I have read all the postings in here about holding down the button and pretty much tried everything. The frustrating part is that I've done it before, but with spotty success.
So, I think my firewire port on my HVX may be fried. Anyone know how to test it?
Thanks,
Wolfgang

I'm not sure of a firewire tester out there, markertek.. maybe?
Did you try going to applications>utilities>disk utility to see if you Mac see's the camera? If it does, you should be able to mount you camera within disk utility.

The Mac does not see the camera. The screen on the camera says 'disconnect' and won't change to connect.

If you have any other FW camera available, try connecting the two cameras together; that eliminates the computer and all its attendant variables out of the equation...

Go through the usual list of suspects; is the camera set to 1394 DEVICE mode? And if so, are you connecting to a Mac? Don't try using 1394 DEVICE mode with a Windows computer, it only partly/sporadically works.
And if using 1394 DEVICE mode, make sure the camera is in PC mode, not MCR mode.
And, make sure you've installed the P2 driver on your Mac.

Hey Barry! How are you? Thanks for the reply.
Yeah, tried the list of usual suspects. I will try to connect my HVX to another camera and see what that does. Thanks.
