I'm new to this forum, but I figure I'd start it off by showing you a sample of my work.
I'm not asking for anyone to vote for me... I'm asking anyone to just vote for the best... which I believe is mine. haha
To vote: Click this link and vote at the bottom of the page http://kiss1061.com/pages/441176.php You can also see the other entries here.
And if you want to vote for me, I am Dan, #8
Thank you so much! The dude that is in the lead right now is voting for himself... and I want to keep mine legit.. so vote as long and frequent as possible... please leave me feedback and let me know what you think of the video too!

Wow. Looked great! I voted for ya. Far and above prod. quality of others. Loved the big lips costume and the motion ramping. Corny in a good way lol.
Howd you get the guy to jump over the car and the guy to fly back after getting hit? Was that wires and greenscreen?
VO was great too. And motion graphics. Don't see how you could lose.
I'm also in a contest right now:

Thanks for the feedback and votes!
I don't believe in greenscreen. The car jump was 2 separate shots in slow motion masked off and joined together. The hit and fly away is body harness masked out.
The V-1U has a nice slow motion function that shoots up to 240fps for 12 seconds. So I used it for the car jump and the water shot.
Keep the feedback coming, and votes if you like!!
Thanks

Hey Dan,
Iiiiiit's Nikko.... Small world, eh? First off, I am not here to start a flaming war, cuz that is not what I'm about, and it's so not cool. I'm here cuz I'm a long time reader of dvxuser and a short time member giving you my two cents.
Anyways, I thought your video to be quite cool... I've seen it quite a few times and I still find it to be a solid piece of work. I like the effects and the vo. Was it you with the kiss lips last year?
I find it funny that we have reallllly similar cameras. I have the Sony HVR-Z1U and you have the Sony HVR-V1U!! :D
How do you like shooting with it? I'm still iffy on shooting with shooting with CMOS over CCD...
Mayhaps we could compare cameras and footage from our cameras one of these days? hehehe.
Oh, I do want to point out for you though that I am not voting for myself, I too am keeping things legit.... I just happen to be verrry well networked. As many of us know in this industry it isn't just your knowledge or skill, but it's also who you know that gets you places.
Anyways, good luck with the contest and all... and regardless of the outcome, I'd love to see some of your work sometime.

Hey man, I'm not trying to wage war either. Likewise I am doing the network thing within communities. I'd like to believe that a video will win because of it's quality and not the politics of a voting system. But in this contest, thats not the case.
it took collectively a solid month to produce this commercial, shoot and edit it... The cmos is great with the exception of a few things... Like I said in all my threads... I ask for people to vote for who they think is the best, I believe good work will take you places. No offense towards nikko...
Let the best man win...

Fishy, yours is definitely the best. You got my vote. Nice work.
I recently competed in a radio station contest locally. They called theirs the "Really, Really, Really, Really Short Film Contest." They took the top 25 finalists and showed the entries in a local theater here and let the audience vote. I didn't win, but had a lot of fun making the entry. If anyone wants to check mine out, I'd also love any feedback.

I'm still really new to film making so be as brutal as you like with feedback. I've got a lot to learn. :) This is pretty much the second thing I've ever attempted to film and edit.

wow that was great... i just wish I had sound... other than that It looks funny and entertaining. It's a shame you didn't win man! My only suggestion is when you do the fluid motion aka. trucks dollies, etc. Use like a wheel chair or car to get smoother motion!
-Thanks for the positive feedback

Thanks for taking a look. Too bad you didn't have sound, that's actually what I thought turned out the best. Ah well. Good feedback. Thanks. I thought the same thing about the trucks and dollies when I was editing, but unfortunately, we decided to make the video like three days before the contest deadline so by the time I was editing, there wasn't anytime for a reshoot.
I also felt like I tried to cram in too much. The contest rules were that it had to be 61 seconds or less and mention the radio station and one of their sponsors. Having never really shot anything I found out that 61 seconds was a lot less time than I thought. When I captured the footage, we'd shot almost 40 minutes worth. Oops :)
Needless to say, I was extremely impressed by how much you were able able to fit into 14 seconds. Wow.
Focus This!
