Hello,
I need some advice on choosing components for the edit suite i am building
first off i Have an hvx200 and mostly shoot in 720pn.
I have a mac pro 2.66 with 4gb of ram. that should be enough right?
with an ati radeon x1900

I will probobly need to purchase a raid. (burly or caldigit)
Also, i see many edit suites with mixers, Once i capture my audio on p2 what is the point of a mixer during editing. Do I need one to have speaker monitors.
My main concern is my capture/playback card.
I understand that the matrox mxo is great and should work with what i plan on purchasing.
FCS2
if i get the mxo i will probobly purchase an apple display and component monitor,
But would a mixer be able to connect to it.
For the mxo price of 1000, I could get a blackmagic card but i dunno if it supports the 23.98 720p. Although the mxo site says it iss actually a 59.83 stream.
But on blackmagics site none of their cards so anything about 720p. Im not sure about aja. Please help me out.
All the juicy details wanted.
post,post,post!

I edit without RAID with your exact set up. Why the need for a RAID?

Mixer for what?

Call Black Magic and ask the company about support 720/24p but not over 60. I don't think that Intensity supports this.

Take some initiative and talk to Black Magic directly. Then you'll get direct answers.

Matrox MXO does not capture DVCProHD. It can monitor it however.

The Intensity card from BM does not capture DVCProHD from the HVX200; it is HDMI based.
