Been thinking about it for a while... Finally did it and what can I say! This is friggin' amazing. I wish I had the bandwidth to share this with you all in high def because the detail is mindblowing.

UPDATE: here is a page linking to a 720p h264 quicktime... http://www.imapnet.com/jay/HDR.html ... don't know why it's choppy with this codec but at least it's small... smooth as butter in other codecs.

Nice work. How'd you get the panning so smooth?

Let me check on that... I only compiled the sequence 480i so far (it's 62mb mpeg2). Just did it yesterday! I'll compile 1080.

RE:panning

I'm using a telescope head with an RA clock motor drive at 4x for this one. Works like a charm!

what codec should I use? picvideo-mjpeg? mpeg-4? div-x?

I'm green on 1080... the orignials were 19--x12-- so I should be able to compile a high def...

Holy lord. I definately can not help out with that. I usually use h264.
if you get it down to around 100 megs let me know and i can help with some hosting.

I'll give that codec a try... I'm sure if I go to 720p it will help too...

Here is a page that links to a 720p h264 quicktime file!! I don't know why it's so choppy?? It's smooth as butter in other codecs but at least h264 is small and you can get the idea....
