Assuming I could buy both for the same price...which one do you think that I should get?

Should I be leary about buying a camera with 425 hours on it?

FWIW...this would be my first non-cheapo camera.

i would go with the DVX. you can't really go by the hour meter too much because it counts how many hours the camera has been on for. my DVC30 has only had about 6 tapes completely filled up but i have 111 hours on it just because i mess around with it all the time.

Nope, hour meter only runs when the heads are engaged (a tape is in the camera).

But still, go for the DVX. You should get a ton of use out of it before it needs to be serviced, and it is leaps and bounds greater then the GL2 (sans a 20x lens).

DVX. if the transport fails, you can always get a DTE solution.

yeah, thats true but the heads will not get worn down from the tape being static (not moving).
