About half way through on the Miami Vice trailer, there is a shot of Colin Farrel walking, i'm pretty sure the shadow from the Viper is bouncing around his shirt...Plain as can be.
Could something this big really not be cut from the final edit of a film trailer that big, or do they think people like us just wont notice ;)

No way. I haven't seen the film, but we have to just be seeing that shot out of context.
Right?
Sure looks like a shadow...

Thats the only thing thats holding me from thinking its 100% the camera. But if you look, you can clearly see the support handle, and what looks like an israeli arm.

Meh, look at the angle of the strong shadow under the chin to see where the key light is coming from. I doubt it's the camera. Plus if it were the shadow of the camera, it would be unlikely you would get that shadoe. The subject is right in front, and the light would have to be coming from right behind, and therefore you would be more likely to see an outline of a person.
Unless it's a second camera.
But even then, that shadow can be anything, and the shadow is pretty big.

Could be... I bid all the time on removals of shadows, scratches and reflections
from shots... after seeing the bids, a lot of times, they just leave the shot
as-is or try to cut around the problemto use less of the take.

It doesn't surprise me, given how poorly done every other aspect of the movie was.

Good points Jon, I just don't know! Regardless of wether it is the camera or not, that shot should not have been kept as that shadow is extremely distracting, and makes the movie seem even more unprofessional than it already did.

The average person won't catch. I didn't until it was pointed out. I just said wow they look cool as Crockett and Tubbs, especially with the Jay-Z/Linkin Park song in the background.

Looks like a mattebox shadow to me.
A few shots previous, in the speed boat you can also see a vignette on the left side of the frame.

Maybe it's the handle of an automatic rifle, like an M-16?
I think it's funny 10 posts and almost no one has mentioned that they've seen the movie. I 'm guessing it didn't do too well.

Yep...I'm avoiding seeing it if at all possible.

Ha! And I thought you were one of the only ones who DID see it.

Good theory. Could be somethin like that...

Or maybe it's just the camera equipment. Even the big Michael Mann movies have mistakes like that. It's not uncommon.

Crew or equipment visible: In the scene when Crockett and Isabella go to Cuba, the shadow of the camera is reflected on the windshield of the boat and on Farrel's shirt too.
Not exactly what you're talking about, but it's a similar example listed.

I was a big fan of Miami Vice and I was open to a big screen remake. The trailer and the story seems to imply Miami Vice for the big screen. I'm still planning on seeing it on cable.

Yeah, this thing can't come on cable quick enough, cuz I'll be damned if I'd ever rent it. This thread has peaked my interest.
Miami Vice was like "must see" tv when I was in 7th grade. I even had a sky-blue t-shirt with the logo. And the Miami Vice cassette.

Just had to resurrect this thread to say how much the movie SUCKED. I finally saw it last night.
Re: the shot in question with the viper shadow. If it's even in the movie, I missed it, but maybe cuz I fell asleep towards the end. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
