new scratch disk

I have a MacPro and need another scratch drive - I see Seagate has an external eSATA drive with a PCI card that's supposed to scream - does anyone have any experience with these - are they significantly better than just getting a SATA internal drive - the eSATA only has a one year warranty as opposed to five for the internal so I'm wondering about that -
