I've only found a little bit of information on the web about Newtek's SpeedEdit -- it sounds like a great editing package to be able to mix HD/SD 24p etc...but has anyone here tried it?
I'm wondering if it handles the 24p footage from the HV20...anyone have access to this software to report on it?

I have Speed Edit and just got my HV 20. I'll write my experience within a couple days. I also have Vegas 7 so I thought I would compare the two applications.

Cool! How do you like speedEdit so far in comparison to Vegas?

I've only used Speed Edit a few times but I am a multi-year user of the VT2-4 releases. For shorter subjects, Speed Edit will be terrific because of its ease in the most common editing tasks and the ability to put most file types in the same project. The combination of Story Board and Timeline simultaneously is powerful.
For longer form projects requiring better audio applications such as integrating Sound Forge, VST plug ins, and more elaborate compositing needs, Vegas is great especially as I start to think about moving to XDCAM in the next couple years. VT5 is announced to have VST plug in support when it is released later this year.
I did edit my HV20 clips last night and rendered to an DV Widescreen avi file but have not moved it to DVD to assess how it looks on replay as SD. No glitches at all with editing the clips with other file types in the same project. My laptop handles the clips in near real time fashion.
More later....

I believe speededit has a vst component too now. Check the utilities or fx folders.

Is there a trial version of SpeedEDIT yet? I'm not about to drop a few hundred bucks without being able to try it first.
