Im shopping around and find two 24mm 2.8 nikon lenses, used.
one says 24mm 2.8 N, the other says 24mm 2.8 D
The one that says N is cheaper than the D.
Now my question, what does the N and D stand for?
im going to use this on my D50, so i dont want to end up getting something i cant use.
Thanks!

This might help explain the 'N' lens:

And the D lens is for the non-full frame cameras, which is the lens you need. Don't get the 'N' lens unless you have a D200 or D2, as they can set lens data for apature and other settings, where on a D50, the lens data can't be accounted for. Even if you had a D200 and got an N lens, you'd still have to figure out the lens length in your head.

That is not true . A D lens is just another type of lens, newer that has been specifically designed to work better with digital, but they can be used on full frame cameras.
The lenses that cannot be used on full frame cameras are the DX lenses as those are built for the crop sensor.
