I decided to post a few pics over time from some National Parks I visited out west in June of 2006. I took a lot and like a few. (normal for me)
I've played with film photography for about 24 years and these are my first try at digital. I'm using a Sony H2. I've done a bit with them in Photoshop CS3. I'm new at the digital and new with some of the toys in CS3 so some things won't be done all that great. But, I'm alwayslearning.

Nice pix...you might consider adding a circular polarizer to cut down the sky a bit on the first shot.

Not a national park per se, but from the same vacation. This flower on top of a cactus is at Huntington Gardens in Pasadena, Cal.

Smithy, thanks for the feed back. I didn't have a polarizer filter with me for this camera. I do use the thumb/forefinger (at right angles) trick to determine where the polarized part of the sky is though. It let's me get good blue sky without the filter. Sometimes it's too blue. In this photo, the one with the out of focus rock in the foreground (it's about the size of my fist. I laid on my belly looking up the slope and had the lens almost touching the rock.), I used that concept. A polarizer would have made the top of that foreground rock less over exposed I think.
I can't wait to get an SLR. I have PS CS3 now and want to play with the Camera RAW. It let's me bring in jpg's, and it does marvelous things with them, but I want to play with RAW. I found a couple of RAW images on the net to play with plus I found a couple sample one's that came with the program. What an amazing program.

I really like the second shot of the tree. I think the first one would have been better without the blurred rocks in the front, they don't really add too much for me. The deep blue sky is nice though :)

This photo is a petrfied log protruding from a cliff in the Petried Forest in Arizona. I took this in June 06 using a Sony H2. I slightly adjusted the mid contrast in PS CS3.
