Hey all. I have a problem, and this doesn't seem to fit into any of the NLE forums since it involves many of them, but I understand if it gets moved....
Anyway, I'm a mac user, and switching to FCP. I have a liscence for Avid Xpress Studio, which I'm leaving be because it was for a feature, and... point is I'm leaving that alone.
BUT, I have a second Avid Xpress Pro seat. It's not registered for HD, it's 100$ to upgrade.
For Mac I'm staying with FCP for sure, especially with studio 2 coming out, but I have a few Wintel computers laying around and I'd like to make use of them for smaller projects. Especially web content stuff.
I've had so many problems with AVID I've vowed never to use it again, but I do have that extra dongle, and 100 bucks to make it HD... The new version looks sweet.
But then again I'm crawling back into AVID-land. I love the editor, but the bugs drive me nuts, AND I'd like an editor that plays nice with all resolutions of the DVX in case I do decide to edit something on the wintel.
I've used Vegas. I liked it a lot for short fast, small work. I grew up on premiere... CS3 looks sweet to me.
I guess the point is, I'd rather put 100$ into buying another sweet, than give another nickel to AVID unless they've changed their tune and are a little bit better.
I just need some guidence.
